Delightful ''It Girl'' statuette lamp, circa 1929, one of only a handful known to exist and modeled after the award presented to Clara Bow as the very first ''It Girl''. As star of the 1927 film ''It'', Bow launched the popular use of the phrase ''It Girl'' to describe a young woman who possesses an alluring, elusive quality and who captures the zeitgeist of her generation; in the case of Clara Bow, it was the liberated flapper girl of the 1920s. Lamp is one of only two known to exist, with Bow also owning one, modeled after an award given to her at the Roosevelt Hotel in 1929. Painted metal statuette features a young woman, with both devilish horns and angelic wings, with ''IT'' on the base. Artist is unknown, but in the collectible Art Deco Frankart style. Measures 14.5'' tall x 9.25'' x 7'' at the base. Lamp is fully functional, but missing the original frosted glass intended to be fitted into the slot at back. Light wear to base, overall in near fine condition. A perfect gift for the ''It Girl'' in one's life. With copies of photos of Bow accepting her original award and with her lamp statuette in the background.
