Set of two ''Chicago Daily Tribune'' newspapers dated 3 November 1948, the first exclaiming ''DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN'', the most famous newspaper faux pas of the 20th century, and the second - published later that afternoon but still inaccurate, reads ''G.O.P. WINS WHITE HOUSE!''. The Tribune so quickly rushed its printing of the ''Dewey Defeats Truman'' issue that some of the type is even printed upside down, and it wouldn't be until the next day when the Tribune finally called the 1948 Presidential election correctly, with Harry Truman as the President-elect. First paper is the Home edition with the first section running 26pp. and the second section running 28pp. The second paper is the ''Final'' edition, with the first section running 26pp. and the second section running 16pp. Both papers are toned with some chipping as expected, but with no significant loss of paper. Very good condition, a rare set of the morning and afternoon editions together.
''Dewey Defeats Truman'' Newspaper, Along With the Second Erroneous Paper Published Later That Day, ''G.O.P. Wins White House!'' -- The Worst Newspaper Faux Pas of the 20th Century
