Zachary Taylor document signed as President, dated 8 October 1849. Serving just 16 months in office, Taylor is the third rarest Presidential autograph, only behind William Henry Harrison and James Garfield. Countersigned by Secretary of the Interior Thomas Ewing, Sr., document appoints Anthony Walke as register of the land office at Chillicothe, Ohio. Partially printed document measures 17.75'' x 11.25'', with blindstamped Interior Department seal. Separation starting at folds, and smudge to Taylor's signature, likely, based on appearance, done by Taylor at the time of signing. Overall very good condition.
