Winston Churchill typed letter signed to his secretary Mrs. Violet Pearman, dated 15 August 1931 during Churchill's political isolation following heavy Conservative party defeat in the House of Commons. Writing from France, Churchill adds a handwritten inscription at top, ''My Dear Mrs. Pearman'' and then continues in type, ''...it would be a great help if you could look in at Charterwell every few days...at the same time it would enable you to get away for a little rest in between...[signed] WChurchill''. Single page measures 8'' x 10''. Light creasing and small tear. Overall very good.
