Winston Churchill signs a typed letter to Mrs. Violet Pearman, his secretary since 1929. His kind and generous letter, dated 30 March 1936, reads: ''...I am very sorry that your accident is so serious, and you must take the greatest care. I have told the Doctor that I will pay for the extra treatment you may require, but I should like to know before any large expense is incurred. I have told Miss Hamblin to make you out your salary cheques as you require them. Do not worry about typing for the present. With good wishes, believe me, [signed] Your friend, Winston S. Churchill''. Single page letter on Churchill's Chartwell stationery measures 8'' x 10''. Chartwell, in Westerham, Kent, was the site of Churchill's family home. Minor foxing and creasing, else near fine.
