Winston Churchill typed letter signed as Prime Minister, dated 8 February 1953, regarding the upcoming coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Churchill writes on 10 Downing Street, Prime Minster stationery to Commodore Gordon Allen, part of Churchill's ''Syndicate'' who helped him write his WWII memoir, ''The Second World War''. Letter reads in part, ''...about the possibility of you and your Wife being able to watch the Coronation Procession from here. / I am so very sorry to have to tell you that, alas, the accommodation on the route alloted to me is much smaller than I anticipated, and I shall only just be able to find room for my own grandchildren. / This is a disappointment to me. It would have been so nice if there could have been a place for you both here. Please tell Mrs. Allen how sorry I am...[signed] Winston S. Churchill''. Single page letter measures 7.5'' x 9.5''. Shallow folds and hole at upper left. Near fine condition with a bold signature.
