Winston Churchill typed letter signed as President, dated 15 March 1952 to Commodore Gordon Allen, part of his ''Syndicate'', who helped him write his WWII memoir, ''The Second World War'', a hugely popular series of books published from 1948-1953. Initialed ''WC'' boldly in red ink, Churchill writes short sentences to his group regarding an upcoming May 1st deadline, ''We must put in the best possible version by May 1. I shall not be able to read it again before May 1. Before there is any question of publication of course I shall have to read it through. / The necessary reprints must be made in time for delivery on May 1. This does not mean that any unnecessary expense should be incurred in reprinting chapters which are good enough. How much has been reprinted and how much more will have to be reprinted?'' Single page letter, written on black-bordered 10, Downing Street stationery, measures 7.5'' x 9.5''. File hole at upper left, else near fine condition.
