Winston Churchill typed letter signed to his chief secretary Mrs. Violet Pearman. The celebrated statesman adds ''Dear Mrs. P,'' in his hand and signs with his full signature, ''Winston S. Churchill''. Dated 20 August 1938, just months before his House of Commons speech on the Munich Agreement, letter reads in full: ''Thank you so very much for the black bands; they fit me perfectly. Please do not worry about coming to Chartwell at all this month, and do not overdo the homework, but give yourself plenty of rest and fresh air. I will try to come and see you again either next week or the week after...'' Single page letter upon Westerham stationery measures 8'' x 10''. Foxing, creasing, and a tiny chip to the left edge. Very good condition.
