William McKinley autograph letter signed, dated 15 November at top. Writing to a Senator, McKinley does some political negotiating, asking at the conclusion, ''Is this satisfactory?''. On Senate Committee Library stationery, letter reads in part, ''Mr. [James G.] Blaine accepts the invitation, but prefers that no time be fixed now. He doesn't want it earlier than Feby, to be arranged upon consultation with us later. I will pass the resolution in the House this morning & send it over at once so your body may concur. I have said in the resolution, instead of a date, 'on a day and an hour to be fixed and announced by the Joint Committee.' Is this satisfactory?...Wm McKinley''. Single page measures 5'' x 8.125''. Mounting remnants to verso. Slightly smudged, though bold signature. Very good plus condition.
