Wernher von Braun typed letter signed from April 1959 while working for the Army Ballistic Missile Agency, shortly before he joined NASA in 1960. Writing to an Edward G. Robinson in Canada who inquired about a career in rocketry, von Braun writes in part, ''...Opportunities in the field of research and development of guided missiles are very good at present and will probably continue to be good for a number of years for young people who are well trained and ambitious.''
Von Braun then advises Robinson to get as much formal education as possible, ''College students who wish to prepare for a career in rocketry should pursue a Bachelor's degree and graduate degrees in science or engineering, and they should remain in college as long as possible...Inclosed are some articles on rocketry which I believe offer sound advice to anyone who aspires to make a career of rocket engineering...'' Boldly signed in black felt-tip, ''Werner von Braun''. Single page measures 8'' x 10.5''. Moderate creasing with staple puncture and chip at top. Very good condition.
