Lot of 3 autograph postcards sent by Rene Gagnon, each signed, ''Rene'' and ''PFC R.A. Gagnon USMC'' as a Private First Class in the U.S. Marine Corps. In each postcard, he writes to his hometown sweetheart Pauline Harnois on 23 February 1944. Gagnon sends the postcards from the military training base at Charleston, South Carolina after a short trip to Florida. First card reads, ''Dear Polly, They've got some swell places down here, but wish I was home, with you. Love as ever / Rene''. Second card reads, ''Darling Polly / There's still no place like home. Love as ever Rene''. Third card reads, ''Having wonderful time wish you were here. Love / Rene''. Cards, measuring 5.5'' x 3.5'', depict the Orangeburg County Court House, Miami Beach and Benedict College. All three are taped together to an overall size of 5.5'' x 10''. Very good.
