Vellum document datelined Washington, 22 April 1803 is also countersigned by future President James Madison as then Secretary of State. With fully intact paper covered red wax seal, document measures 12'' x 14.25''. Small paper loss along folds, otherwise in near fine condition with bold signatures. Accompanied by 9'' x 13.75'' engraving of Jefferson.
