Thomas Jefferson free frank signature, signed "Th: Jefferson". Jefferson signs the front of the document, which folds to create a cover with red wax seal, addressed to William Channing esquire, U.S. Attorney for Rhode Island District. Channing was appointed in 1790 and served until his death in 1793, with Jefferson therefore signing as Secretary of State under George Washington. Stamped "Free" and "New York", along with the date, now obscured. Measures 10.25" x 7.25", double matted and framed to 15.5" x 12.5". Not examined out of frame. Toning and a few small closed tears, overall very good plus condition.
