Thomas Edison typed letter signed, composed upon ''From the Laboratory of Thomas A. Edison'' stationery, with his watermark. Dated 27 May 1912, Edison writes to Professor Harold Pender of MIT regarding automobile research. Letter reads in part, ''...allow me to say that I am pleased to have the privilege of assisting in the work which has been taken up by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to enable our merchants to obtain unbiased data as to the merits of Automobile Trucks of various kinds...'' Edison then writes that he's enclosing a check for $1,000 for the investigation. Signed ''Thomas A Edison'' with Edison's famous umbrella signature. Letter measures 8.375'' x 10.875''. Smoothed folds and uniform toning, in very good condition.
