Brilliant Emmy Award, presented at the 2002 Sports Emmy Awards to Producer Vince Manze for coverage of the Olympics. Salt Lake City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, notable for garnering a record number of viewers in the billions as well as a record number of events. The very first Sports Emmy Award was issued in 1950 as part of a regular Emmy ceremony, though the field of sports coverage earned an Emmy ceremony all its own in 1979. The iconic winged woman holding an atom stands on the slightly convex, grid-lined surface of a round metal base, plated in 18-karat gold. The base's flat perimeter reads ''The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences''. Front section is engraved with 5 lines naming the award, its category and recipient: ''2002 Sports Emmy Awards / Outstanding Live Sports Special / 'XIX Olympic Winter Games' / NBC / Vince Manze, Producer''. Measures 15.25'' in total height with a 7.5'' diameter base. Weighs 6 lbs., 14 oz. Light crazing to figure. Near fine overall.
