Stan Laurel letter signed with his full name ''Stan Laurel'', dated 6 June 1961 shortly after receiving his Lifetime Achievement Academy Award. Laurel writes to his fan-friend William Brown, ''Thank you for your kind sentiments re my Oscar Award - appreciate very much your the [sic] nice expressions. / Thanks too for your good wishes on the L&H cartoon series. / Regarding your request for a tape recording of my voice - sorry, I just have'nt time, am sure you must realise how busy I am. / I would suggest you record on tape from one of our films on TV...[signed] Stan Laurel''. Laurel was known to be very generous with his fans, publicly listing his number in the phone book, and picking up the phone himself when anyone called. The relationship with Bill Brown, the recipient of this letter, segued into a friendship with Brown and his wife visiting Laurel and Laurel's wife Ida in Los Angeles. Single page letter measures 5.5'' x 8.5''. Folds, else near fine. With original mailing envelope.
