Scarce check written entirely in Barack Obama's hand and signed a total of three times by him, drawn from the ''Committee to Elect Barack Obama'' bank account in 1995 when he was running for Illinois State Senator. Not only does Obama sign the payer line, ''Barack Obama'', he also endorses the verso with his full name and additionally handwrites his name in the payee line. Dated 6 November 1995, Obama reimburses himself $150 for ''Volunteer Expense/Reimbursement'', which he writes in the memo line. Rendered in fine blue felt-tip, and co-signed by Obama's sister-in-law, Janis L. Robinson. Check measures 8.25'' x 3.125'', with white bank strip taped to lower edge. Discreet closed tear through payer signature, folds and tape repair to tear at top, not affecting writing. Good to very good condition.
