Apollo AS-201 flown heat shield segment, taken from the Command and Service Module-009 spacecraft used in the successful 1966 mission; interestingly, one of the objectives of AS-201 was to test the functionality of the heat shield upon reentry. Ablative segment is charred at bottom from reentry, and housed in vintage acrylic with slip reading ''Apollo S/C 009 Ablator / 18000 mph reentry 26 Feb 66''. Segment measures approximately 1.5'' x 1'', encased in capsule-shaped acrylic measuring 3.75'' wide x 3.125'' tall x 1.75'' deep, with green felt bottom. Some yellowing to acrylic, and light scratching, overall very good. Scarce.
