Rare large-format Royal Air Force lithograph poster, designed to train World War I pilots the basics of flight. With the Wright Brothers having only completed their public airshows a decade earlier, a mastery of aviation - let along combat flying, was uncharted territory. Poster entitled ''Landing Across Wind'' warns pilots to land ''up wind'', and that landing ''across wind'' is a stunt move reserved for experienced pilots. Published by Air Technical Services, dated 21 April 1918. With Air Ministry and Royal Air Force stamps on verso. Two-tone lithograph measures 40'' x 27''. Spot of discoloration at lower right, small paper loss at upper left margin, and light wear mostly along margins. Very good condition.
