FA Cup medal from 1905, awarded to Newcastle United's first manager, Frank Watt. Medal features a coat of arms to obverse surrounded by text, ''The Football Association Challenge Cup / Runners Up''. Reverse bears engraving, ''N.U.F.C. / Won By / F.G. Watt / (Secy) / 1904-5'' flanked by laurel sprigs. With several English hallmarks to reverse and to articulated ring at the top. Medal features a plain rim. Measures just over 1'' in diameter. Weighs 1/2 ounce or 15 grams. Near fine. Housed in its original red leather case with gilt lettering from jeweler J.P. Watt. A rare artifact from an early FA Cup.
