Rare copy of ''Hutchinson's Republican Songster, for 1860'' a booklet full of songs promoting Republican ideals, such as an end to slavery and anti-corruption. New York: O. Hutchinson, 1860. After listing the official Republican platform of 1860, the songster has the lyrics to approximately 50 songs, with such titles as ''Abe of Illinois'', ''Hope for the Slave'', ''I Spurn the Bribe'' and ''The Fugitives''. Songbook measures 3.875'' x 6'' and runs 72pp., bound in paper wrappers. Light dampstaining at bottom, some foxing and wear to covers. Very good condition.
