Queen Victoria signs ''Leaves from the Journal of Our Life in the Highlands / From 1848-1861.'' London: Smith Elder and Co.: 1868. The Queen signs ''Victoria R'' upon the front free endpaper that is inscribed in another hand, ''John Camp from / January 1st 1869''. Victoria and her husband, Albert, spent summers in Balmoral, their beloved Scottish castle. When Albert died in 1861, Victoria went into deep mourning and used the publication of her journals, which are dedicated to Albert, to help with her grief. Another volume was published in 1884. 4.5'' x 6.75'' green leather boards holding the 219pp. volume. Binding has been strengthened, foxing to endpapers and pages. Overall in very good condition.
