Collection of undergarments worn by Queen Victoria in 1901, the year of her death. Collection is comprised of: (1) Nightgown of fine white linen with hand-stitched machine lace frill at the neckline, with royal crown and Queen Victoria's Imperial Cipher ''VR'' to front surrounded with blue stitch. Measures 19'' across the chest; (2) Cream linen chemise with lace frill at neckline, royal crown and ''VR'' and the number ''24'', surrounded with blue stitching; (3) Pair of white linen bloomers monogrammed with Queen Victoria's cipher and the number ''36'', surrounded with a blue stitch at the waist. Measures 24'' across the waist; (4) Pair of black silk stockings with white tips and royal crown and ''VR'' stitched. Measures 30'' long; (5) Pocket lace handkerchief with embroidered royal crown and ''VR''. Measures 10'' x 10''. Undergarments are housed inside a red leather box, containing label attached to the handle with a description of the contents, written circa 1901. Housed inside of box is handwritten note, written on stationery from Henley Hall in Ludlow and accompanied by original envelope, with descriptions of included undergarments and their provenance, gifted from Princess Helena Victoria, Queen Victoria's granddaughter. Slight wear to hinge of box. Very good condition overall.
