Lot of six documents and letters signed by Presidents James Monroe, William McKinley, William Howard Taft, Herbert Hoover and George H.W. Bush. Lot includes: (1) William McKinley partial military appointment signed as President on 26 December 1899. Measures 16'' x 12.75''. Staining to top portion and fading to ''William'' in McKinley's signature. Very good condition; (2) William Howard Taft typed letter signed early in his Presidency, on 16 April 1909. Upon White House stationery, written to a colleague in New York. Single page measures 7'' x 9''. Creasing and light soiling. Very good condition. With unrelated envelope sent from Taft's Post-Presidency home in New Haven, Connecticut, postmarked 11 December 1916; (3) Additional William Howard Taft typed letter signed, dated 3 April 1913, less than a month after leaving the Presidency. Composed on Taft's personal stationery from his home in New Haven, Connecticut, and written to Father J.A. Zahm at the Holy Cross Academy in Washington DC. Single page letter measures 7'' x 9.25''. Horizontal fold and very light soiling, mostly to verso. Very good plus condition; (4) President George H.W. Bush typed letter signed on White House stationery, dated 16 March 1990. Includes original envelope from the White House, as well as a card reading ''With the best wishes of The President and Mrs. Bush''. Letter measures 6.5'' x 4.5'', card measures 4.5'' x 2.75'' and envelope measures 6.5'' x 4.5''. Near fine condition overall; (5) James Monroe document signed as President on 27 September 1822, granting land to Susannah Sutton in Delaware, Ohio. Monroe signs ''James Monroe'' to lower right of vellum document, which measures 13'' x 8.5''. Toning, fading, folds and staining throughout. Good condition; (6) Herbert Hoover typed letter signed as President, dated 19 June 1931 and composed on White House stationery. Writing to A.R. Keppel of the Board of Religious Education, Hoover writes about religious education, signing ''Herbert Hoover''. Letter measures 7'' x 9''. Toning and folds, else near fine.
