White House presentation gavel, which bears a printed message on its head describing the source of the wood: ''Head - Pine removed from THE WHITE HOUSE when remodeled 1927 / Handle - Hickory from Mt. Vernon / W. M. Jardine / Secretary of Agriculture''. William Jardine served as Secretary of Agriculture from 1925-1929, dating this gavel to the late 1920's. Measures 10'' x 4'' x 2''. Rubbing to ends, else near fine.
