Original photograph by David Francis Barry of attendees of the funeral of Indian Agent James McLaughlin, a controversial figure who gave the order to shoot Sitting Bull, which precipitated the Wounded Knee Massacre. Glossy photo measures 6.75'' x 4.875'', mounted to black paper measuring 13.25'' x 10.5'' with notation reading ''A few who attended the funeral of Major McLaughlin / Major McLaughlin died in Washington, D.C. July 28, 1923. Buried at McLaughlin, S.D. Age 81. In U.S. service 53 years.'' A few surface marks, overall very good.
