Pablo Picasso terre de faience (earthenware) pitcher ''Hibou'' created at the famed Madoura pottery studio in the south of France, where Picasso collaborated the last 25 years of his life and created often playful pieces, such as this owl-inspired piece. Painted and glazed pitcher was created in 1954 in an edition of 500. Inscribed ''Edition Picasso'' and ''Madoura'', also with both the Edition Picasso and Madoura stamps. Measures 9.625'' tall. In very good plus condition with four areas of adhesive staining, confined to underside. Number 253 in Alan Ramie's ''Picasso, Catalogue of the Edited Ceramic Works, 1947-1971''.
