The original Oscar, awarded to MGM for Best Short Subject (Two Reel) for 1943's "Heavenly Music," an American short fantasy film directed by Josef Berne. Engraved wrap-around plaque reads, "Presented to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer / for the Best Production in the Short Subject / Two-Reel Classification / 'Heavenly Music' / Jerry Bresler and Sam Coslow, Co-Producers / 1943". The figure and film reel, composed of gold-plated britannium measuring 10.25" tall, top the pedestal, bringing the total height to 13.25". The pedestal's diameter measures 5.25" and the award weighs 6 pounds, 7 ounces. Heavy tarnishing to statue, else in very good condition.
