Alexander Gardner albumen photograph published in his 1866 compendium, ''Photographic Sketch Book of the Civil War'' entitled ''Group of Confederate Prisoners at Fairfax Court-House''. Photo is from the 1866 first printing (of which only 50 copies were made), reading ''Incidents of the War'' upon the page, rather than listing the plate number (#34 in this case). Photo was original taken by Timothy H. O'Sullivan in June 1863, showing a group of rebel cavalrymen captured at the Battle of Aldie. Photo measures 8.75'' x 6.75, affixed to original book page, and then double-matted and framed to a size of 18.5'' x 17''. Well preserved, in near fine condition.
