Olympic torch from the 1980 Olympic Torch Relay. The Torch Relay tradition was begun in 1928, where a spark from the parent flame in Olympia, Greece ignites the torch that begins the Relay, ending in the host city in time for the opening ceremonies. Torch features lamp-burning mechanism specially designed by Soviet scientists, which allowed the lamp to burn for 48 hours straight. Light grey torch has the circular lamp component at top, above a white base with ''Moscow Olympics'' written in Russian and then circular gold hardware with the Moscow Olympics logo. Torch measures 22'' long, with the torch opening measuring 3.75''. Very slight dent to the body, scratching, and discoloration and a bend to the burner portion from use. Very good condition overall.
