Beautiful limited edition lithograph of the late Neil Armstrong, signed by both Armstrong and NASA artist Paul Calle, dated 16 July 1969, the day Armstrong suited up and embarked on the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. Calle was one of the eight artists chosen by NASA in 1962 to document the U.S. Space program, designing various space-related postage stamps. He was the only artist present when the crew of Apollo 11 prepared for launch, and he designed the ''First Man on the Moon'' postage stamp celebrating Armstrong's momentous first step. Graphite sketch is numbered 727/1000 and depicts Armstrong in profile, in his NASA space suit. Armstrong and Calle both signed this print in pencil at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on 23 December 1976, to raise money for the Charles Lindbergh Memorial Fund. Lithograph measures 19'' x 29.25'' and is housed in its original protective paper folder. An informational piece created by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum is included. Scattered foxing, very good condition.
