Mary Astor typed letter signed on stationery showing her Malibu address at ''Stella Maris''. Composed to her agent Gloria Safier and dated 21 August 1964, letter reads in full, ''Here I come, complaining again - please check up on your commercial contacts again, huh? I turned down a 'Gunsmoke' at $2,000, but there's a Ford MacMurray show in mid-Sept at $1500 that I'll have to take if I can't count on some voice-overs coming up - and money coming in - The book is going beautifully - I think. I'm about at the half-way mark. Got a note from Lee saying he likes 'The Emerald Ocean' for a title - I do too. Love, Mary''. Single page letter measures 8.5'' x 11''. Copy of Safier's reply is stapled to upper left. Very good condition.
