Marx Brothers contract signed by all four brothers for their most famous film, ''Duck Soup''. Notarized agreement between the Marx Brothers and Paramount Pictures is dated 12 March 1940, representing the ''Settlement Agreement Re: 'Duck Soup''', approximately 6.5 years after the film premiered. Signed on the last page in fountain pen by ''Leo Marx'', ''Herbert Marx'', ''Julius H. Marx'' and ''Arthur Marx'', who played Chico, Zeppo, Groucho and Harpo respectively. Countersigned by Paramount Pictures.
The relationship between the Marx Brothers and Paramount was notoriously difficult, with ''Duck Soup'' representing the last film of their partnership. This agreement pays the Brothers $3,500.00 as a final settlement on the film, with no additional monies to be paid to the Marx comedy quartet for the movie that would ultimately achieve iconic status in the comedy genre. Contract spans four pages on four sheets, stapled at left edge to covers measuring 9'' x 11.5''. A notarized fifth page dated 26 March 1940 is also present, confirming the authenticity of all four Marx Brothers signatures. Some wear to covers, contract itself remains near fine.
