Martin Van Buren document signed as President on 7 July 1840. Document authorizes the Secretary of State ''to affix the Seal of the United States to an Exequatur for C. Cazenove Gardner as Vice Consul of Russia for the port of Savannah''. Van Buren signs to lower right of document which measures 7'' x 8.75'', matted to 10.25'' x 12''. Mounted document is toned and partially foxed, very good condition.
