Marlon Brando wardrobe sketch from ''The Ugly American''. Brando stars in the adaptation from the book as Ambassador Harrison Carter MacWhite. Costumer's illustration depicts Brando donning a two-piece suit in white with a black tie. A cluster of red-orange pagoda-style buildings drawn into the background offset the ensemble nicely and represent the setting of a fictional Southeast Asian country. Likely drawn by costume designer Rosemary Odell, sketch is labeled, ''Change #6 / White Suit / Worn at Dedication Ceremony / Thru to End of Picture...'' Measures 15'' x 20''. Discoloration to left edge extending less than two inches in, else near fine. From the Collection of Marlon Brando.
