Margaret Brundage's hauntingly beautiful untitled oil on canvas board features a naked young woman stretching back in a dreamlike, ethereal setting. Brundage achieved a cult following for her erotically illustrated covers for the pulp magazine ''Weird Tales'' from 1933 to 1938. Her work on ''Weird Tales'' frequently featured young nude or semi-nude women in various compromised or distressed situations, leading to censorship that dampened her career. Signed at lower right. Painting measures 16'' by 20''. Nearly indiscernible spotting, otherwise near fine condition.
