Ludwig Bemelmans original artwork from ''Marina'', his 1962 book that features a little girl Marina, who is swallowed by a shark, and then saved by a school of porpoises. Large watercolor in shades of green and grey measures 24'' x 16.5''. Matted to a size of 26'' x 19''. With a stamped signature by Bemelmans at lower right, as done by Hammer Galleries who originally sold Bemelmans' work for him. Discoloration at very top underneath mat and very light block of toning from framing, but overall in near fine condition with bright colors that pop. From the estate of Mary Hemingway.
