Lot of two photos taken by David F. Barry, the western photographer whose portraits of the Lakota people earned him the nickname ''Little Shadow Catcher'' by the tribe. Both photos are of Chiefs known for their bravery in battle and also their diplomacy skills in seeking peace with the U.S. government. First photo is of Sioux Chief Spotted Tail, measuring 6.5'' x 8.5'', with Barry's embossed copyright stamp to lower left. Photo is affixed to black construction paper, on the verso of which is the portrait photo of Nez Perce Chief Joseph, also measuring 6.5'' x 8.5'' and with two Barry copyright stamps embossed. Minor silvering and surface wear, overall very good plus condition.
