Lot of two letters signed by Stephen Sondheim, both from the 1970s on his personal letterhead. In the first letter, dated 8 January 1976, Sondheim notes he'll ''be off on a bit of vacation'', signed ''Stephen Sondheim''. In the second letter, he writes that he's enclosing the book '''The Boy From...' for your tongue-twisting delectation.'' He then writes a charming P.S., poking fun at the name of a Welsh town; letter is signed ''Stephen Sondheim'' and also initialed. Letters measure 5.75'' x 7.75'' and 5.125'' x 7'' respectively, with 1976 letter accompanied by original mailing envelope with his embossed address on flap. 1977 letter has numerous pinholes, fading to signature and closed tears at bottom, with tape on verso, overall in good condition. 1976 letter is near fine.
