Lot of 12 original photographs from Project Mercury and Gemini, showing preparations for the various missions. Each glossy photo has captions on verso, indicating the photos were taken by the U.S. Air Force Missile Test Center for NASA, operated by RCA. Collection includes:
1) One photo from MA-2, showing the capsule. Dated 13 September 1960, photo number 60-1614.
2-3) Two photos from MR-4, one showing backup pilot John Glenn during capsule checkout, dated 21 April 1961, photo number LOD61-4024. Second shows the spacecraft in its launcher, dated 16 August 1961, photo number LOD61-7051.
4-5) Two photos from MA-6, showing capsule #13 being hoisted. Both dated 3 January 1962, photo numbers LOD62-78 and LOD62-79.
6-7) Two photos from MA-7, the first showing Scott Carpenter preparing to enter Capsule 13; dated 21 December 1961, photo number LOD61-10361. Second photo shows the re-erection of the Atlas-Mercury booster 109D. Dated 20 December 1961, photo number LOD61-10379.
8-11) Four photos from MA-9. The first, dated 5 January 1963, shows Gordon Cooper doing a chamber altitude test; photo number LOC63C-39. Second photo shows Cooper doing a weight test, suited up; dated 6 March 1963, photo number LOC63C-574. Third photo is an aerial view of MA-9, dated 7 May 1963; photo number LOC63PC-34. Fourth photo shows Cooper walking to perform a simulated flight and egress; dated 8 May 1963, photo number LOC63C-1362.
12) Project Gemini photo dated 20 April 1964, showing the Titan II at Launch Complex 19. Photo number KSC-64C-1153.
All photos measure 8'' x 10''. Light wear to all, either in the form of minor creasing, edgewear or surface marks. Overall in very good condition.
