Harper Lee autograph letter signed, dated 9 October 1991, to friend Doris Leapard. Lee expresses her disgust with Montgomery, Alabama, newspapers for ignoring an achievement of famed opera singer, Nell Rankin, a Montgomery native and friend of Lee. She writes, ''...publicity is part and parcel of a performer's professional life...and for there to have been NONE in Nell's home town...was downright insulting...'' Lee signs her first initial, ''N.'' for Nelle, her first name. 5.75'' x 7.75'' three page letter is in fine condition. Accompanying envelope is very good.
