Dwight D. Eisenhower typed letter signed as President, dated 27 June 1957 on White House stationery. Letter is addressed to Eisenhower's brother, Edgar, and discusses the shortcomings of the U.S. education and urban renewal programs: ''...the Federal government, without trying to take any control of education or to assume any dominant position...still has to view...with the deepest concern the failure of the states to move promptly and adequately...'' Signed ''DE'', letter measures 7'' x 10.5'' on one page with two holes punched at top. Near fine.
