The FBI Director signs on the front free endpaper, ''To Bea & Warren Matthew / Best wishes / J. Edgar Hoover / 12.25.60''. In the early 1960's, Hoover's secret counter intelligence program, aimed at communists among others, was in full swing. Water damage to back board and hinge of 5.75'' x 8.5'' volume, and some foxing and discoloration. No dustjacket. Overall good plus condition.
