Rare presidential invitation from ''The President and Mrs. McKinley'' requesting the presence of Illinois Congressman Lewis Payson at a reception at the Executive Mansion on 19 January 1898. On embossed letterhead and still in its original envelope with ''Executive Mansion'' stamp on the face. 6'' x 5'' invitation has minimal toning, envelope is missing back flap and also has some edge wear and tears. Very good condition.
