Abraham Lincoln is pictured stoically in the historic scene immortalized here: ''The First Reading of the Emancipation Proclamation Before the Cabinet.'' The engraving was produced circa 1866 by Alexander Hay Ritchie from the original 1864 Francis Bicknell Carpenter painting. All seven cabinet members' names are listed on the border. Framed in a black wooden frame with gilt trim and white beveled-edge matte. Print measures 35'' x 25''. Toning, else fine. Frame measures 38'' x 28''. Some paint loss to corners, else near fine.
