Original press release of John F. Kennedy's first Executive Order, made on his first full day in office as President, dated 21 January 1961. The order mandates an increase in the quantity and variety of foods donated for needy households and reads in part, ''...Whereas the variety of foods currently being made available is limited and its nutritional content inadequate. The Secretary of Agriculture shall take immediate steps to expand and improve the program...'' Document, measuring 8.5'' x 14'' on one page, is in fine condition.
