Carl Sandburg signed photo, inscribed to fellow Pulitzer Prize winner, cartoonist Vaughn Shoemaker. Signed by Sandburg along the top edge in black fountain pen, ''Vaughn Shoemaker - my ancient friend - Carl Sandburg 1951''. Called the voice of America, Sandburg won three Pulitzer Prizes, two for his poetry and one for his biography of Abraham Lincoln. Half-glossy photo measures 8'' x 10'' on board, taped on verso to mat measuring 10.5'' x 12.5''. Minor crease and scratch to lower portion, else near fine.
