Carl Jung autograph letter signed, composed on his personal stationery on 18 December 1949. Jung writes a friendly letter to his mentee, Dr. Rivkah Scharf, translated from German in full, ''Dear Doctor! / Admittedly, I am still staying in bed, but things are looking up. My liver is fine again, and so is my heart. Unfortunately, I missed the Christmas dinner. I have a question for you: I have a note, according to which the angels were created from the 'sweat' of peacocks. I suspect that it should have said 'tail'. The quotation is found in: Aptowitzer, Arab. Jud. Schopfungstheorien, Hebr. Union Coll. Annot., Cincinnati 1929, VI, 209, 233. Since I just stumbled across this while working on corrections, I would be very grateful if you were able to resolve my doubt as soon as possible. / Thank you very much in advance, / Cordially, / Your C.G. Jung''. Single page measures 8.25'' x 5.875''. Single fold, overall near fine. Accompanied by original mailing envelope.
