George Gershwin signed first trade edition, first printing of "George Gershwin's Song Book", with a partial autograph musical quotation by Gershwin for "Nobody But You". New York: Simon and Schuster, Inc., 1932. Gershwin inscribes the front free endpaper, "For Ella - In memory of many happy times together. With love, from, George". Gershwin then hand-draws the musical quotation for "No-body but you" and dates it 16 September 1932. The Ella in the inscription was Ella W. Aarons Crouch, a concert pianist and the wife of Alexander Alfred Aarons, who, along with Vinton Freedley, produced most of Gershwin's Broadway productions. Large format book measures 9.75" x 12.75", bound in publisher's tan and rust colored boards. Spans 167 pages with scores to Gershwin's songs within. Toning and foxing to end leaves, title page detached. Overall in very good condition. Consigned by the step-granddaughter of Ella Aarons Crouch.
