John Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel ''The Grapes of Wrath'' first edition, first printing, in first printing dust jacket. New York: The Viking Press, 1939. With all first printing points present, including ''First Published in April 1939'' on copyright page with no subsequent printings listed, and price of $2.75 on dust jacket. With decorative endpapers featuring sheet music for ''Battle Hymn of the Republic'' and decorative boards of the Joad family, matching the dust jacket. Corners clipped on jacket, chipping, and sunning to spine. Book has some discoloration to endpapers, light foxing to interior, and separation starting at front hinge. Overall in very good condition.
